Emerge Download

All of Emerge's software is currently alpha or beta quality. This means that there may very well be bugs, known or not, in these components. If you encounter any problems please contact us at emerge@ncsa.uiuc.edu and we will address them.

Grunk

Grunk is written in 100% Java. It requires Xerces 2.0 for Java (this includes SAX and DOM), the XSL package Xalan and the jakarta regex package ORO . All required packages are freeware distributed under the GNU Public License.

You can get a small installer now that also includes versions of the required XML packages here.

Download the source code of the latest version of Grunk in .zip or .tar.gz form.

You can also download a pre-compiled .jar file containing the bytecode only.

Look here for documentation.

Known Problems

Some configurations may result in poor performance. We are working to address this problem in upcoming releases.

Gazebo

Gazebo has been tested on:

Download and install the latest version, 1.0 alpha 1.

Gazelle

Gazelle has been compiled and tested on Solaris and Linux. It has also worked on IRIX, though not all of the necessary changes are in the current release.

Download and install the latest version, 1.0 alpha 2.

Gazebo Client Toolkit

The Gazebo Client Toolkit is written in Java and makes use of Tim Bray's Lark XML parsing package. It has been tested under JDK 1.1 and 1.2.2.

Download the latest version, 2.0a1. Note: Version 2 is incompatible with version 1 and with pre-1.0 versions of Gazebo due to changes in the network protocol.

Demonstration GUI

The old demo GUI has been retired.

The new demo GUI only demonstrates a subset of Gazebo's functionality. It is currently available in an unfinished developer release, but is known to be stable enough for testing purposes. It requires Swing 1.1, CTK 2.0 or greater, and includes CTK 2.0a1. To run it, execute the ncsa.gazebo.gui2.Demo class from the command line. The latest version is 2.0 alpha 1. It also requires the ICE browser; a .jar file is included.

Download the latest demonstration GUI here.

XER Utilities

We've written some utilities to handle XER encoding and decoding in Java. These are built on top of DOM 1. This is a preliminary release. Future releases will include support for encoding and decoding selected Z39.50 PDU's in XER.

Download our pre-release XER tools here.
